Chiang Mai is a vegetarian’s heaven! Finding quality vegetarian and vegan food throughout most of Thailand can be tricky, but Chiang Mai is the exception. The city is well served with some of the most flavoursome, nutritious and exciting food for vegetarians and vegans (thanks to all the Buddhist temples and monks in the city). The main cuisines are Western and Thai dishes, but there are also French, Italian, Mexican, Middle Eastern and even Peruvian food to satisfy any tastes, and in fact most restaurants in the city can easily adapt to vegetarians (including the Burger joints), and even vegan versions of traditional Thai staples such as Pad Thai, Green Papaya Salad and the Northern Lanna favourite Kao Soi can be found in Chiang Mai – and sometimes they taste better than the meat version!

If you are a new vegetarian in town, or if you want to partake in the delicious yearly vegetarian festival here (20th – 28th October 2017), then here is your guide to a week of amazing food. ENJOY!
