Laura has been a resident of Chiang Mai for seven years, and has seen the city grow from a sleepy cultural hub best explored by bicycle, to the sleek, desirable little sister of Thailand’s luxury destinations. Having extensively explored the countryside of northern Thailand (by plane, train, boat, car, motorbike and elephant) she always has a recommendation of hidden gems in Thailand, from beautiful hotels to deserted beaches.
A freelance luxury writer, Laura self published Luxurious Chiang Mai in late 2016 to highlight the stunning properties and picturesque landscapes in northern Thailand. The book proved so successful that it has since been translated into French and Chinese and is soon to be stocked in luxury hotels throughout Thailand. Often touted as a cheap, temple hopping city, through Luxury Chiang Mai Laura hopes to help bring the city into the modern age, as with luxury travel comes improved infrastructure, and an increased awareness and protection of the beauty and nature that Chiang Mai holds.
Working as a freelance writer, she has written copy for many Thai based companies in the past, and is an expert on travel and expatriate life in Thailand. As well as Thailand, Laura has traveled extensively throughout southeast and eastern Asia, including four months in Japan, and bases her writing on real life experiences. As well as writing for a variety of different publications and companies over the years, Laura has also written and co-published two travel guides to Thailand and compiled an anthology of travel stories from around the world.
Luxurious Chiang Mai and this accompanying website are ongoing projects for Laura as she continues to explore amazing Thailand and the intriguing countries beyond.
